The Healing That Happens When We're Seen

Last night was Week 2 of Beyond the Choice, the 6-week sacred healing journey I hold for post-abortive women.

This week, we did something brave:
We shared our stories.

Some spoke words they’ve never said aloud before. Others cried. Some sat in stillness, letting their hearts speak in silence.

There was no judgment. No fixing. No shaming.

Only witnessing. Only truth. Only the kind of presence that says: I see you. I honor you. You’re not alone.

And that? That is powerful medicine.

Why Telling Our Stories Matters

So many post-abortive women carry their stories quietly.
They tuck them away in the name of survival, hoping time will be enough to soothe what was never fully named.

But the truth is, what we don’t heal doesn’t disappear.

It shapeshifts. It whispers.
It shows up in places we least expect:

  • In our self-worth—where we question if we’re worthy of love or success.

  • In our bodies—through numbness, tension, or disconnection.

  • In our relationships—where we struggle with boundaries or feel unworthy of being truly seen.

  • In our ability to dream or trust—because shame has taught us to play small.

When we don’t tend to the wounds we carry, they don’t leave us. They live inside us. They speak for us. They limit us.

That’s why healing isn’t just about the past—it’s about reclaiming the future.

You Are Not Broken

One of the biggest lies women carry after abortion is that something about them is broken. That they’re unworthy of healing. That what happened defines who they are.

But healing is not about fixing.

It’s about remembering.

It’s about reconnecting with the parts of us that have gone silent.
It’s about softening toward ourselves and offering the love we so easily extend to others.

And it’s about being seen—fully, tenderly, without fear—in spaces where judgment has no seat.

That’s the space we created last night. And it’s the space I continue to hold in every gathering, course, and offering.

You Don’t Have to Carry This Alone
